The Telegraph"s Girl On A Budget, Krissy Turner, advises on how to find jazzy statement earrings, in our new column, helping you get dressed - without the fuss???
It would probably be an understatement to say I???m partial to a jazzy earring. They???re possibly my favourite accessory at the moment, so much so that I have nine ear piercings meaning I don???t have to pick between my favourites each day.Until recently, my ears were punctuated with tiny diamond and pearl studs with the odd gold hoop thrown in, but I???ve fallen for something more striking for summer - XXL statement earrings.
But whilst I love the fact this trend was all over the catwalks, I???m aware that it???s likely to be a flash in the pan.The fickle beast that fashion is, in a few seasons we???ll no doubt be back to seeing delicate earrings or statement necklaces back in style. And since statement earrings stand out so much, you won???t want to wear them daily.Which is where the high street comes in. Spending ??300 on the catwalk versions might be hard to justify - these are costume jewellery after all - but a tenner at Mango suddenly seems like great value for an item that can totally transform your look.

So where to wear them?Statement earrings don???t require much thought; while they???d normally be paired with a silk cami or strapless dress by night (and look great like this), the true transformative power is seen by day.I usually reach for them when I???m wearing jeans and have my hair up; they???re my go-to for a high-low balance.Plus, I have a pair at my desk should I make last-minute dinner plans and need to suddenly smarten up casualwear.
Although this trend is all about head-turning, if you???re more of a minimalist head to & Other Stories and COS for clean lines and architectural shapes.Mango has the best earrings on the high street, and is always a good stop for art deco styles that look great mismatched and appear a lot more expensive than they are.Hoops count, too, but look for those with added twists - a gem or pearl, mixed metal details or interlocking elements that stand out.Jewel tones are perfect for day to night (the pair at my desk are emerald and look great with a grey T-shirt) but I tend to go for either metallics or light shades so they aren???t lost in my dark hair.Meanwhile, this navy tassel pair from New Look would look great on blondes.

It???s worth noting that once you???ve found your perfect pair, you can???t expect them to be in your ear-drobe for years to come, particularly if you wear them often. All of the options on the right are well made, but the inevitable cheaper materials of costume jewellery mean they???ll tarnish over time.Try not to get them wet to improve their life span, and store them separately rather than all together. On the plus side, inexpensive materials mean they???re likely to be lightweight so won???t weigh down your lobes.Anything even slightly heavy should be in clip-on form to combat the weight.
