ADRIEN SAUVAGE, Matches' latest designer find, wants to reinvent the way menswear suiting is perceived.
"I want to start again with it [the suit] and turn it on its head," he told us."This line is about giving men options and clothes they actually want to wear."
Does he agree with Stefano Gabbana's view that the men of London are the most stylish?
"I don't think so - there is still a lot to work with. All it takes is a few well dressed people to make you think everyone's well dressed," he said."I'm more about individualism. This isn't just about suits - it's about lifestyle."
Sauvage has recently joined forces with presenterGeorge Lamb to create A. Sauvage - a new menswear label releasing its debut collection this season. The British designer describes his work with Lamb as a "community project".Sauvage does the designing while Lamb acts as a muse and useshis star-studded phonebook to help attract the right attention.
"We had been scouring the shops for about three to four years and couldn't find anything that really grabbed me so we just thought 'why not just do this ourselves?'" said Lamb."I'm just so keen to change this preconceived suit look - I love suits and I don't work in an office.I feel I've been brainwashed by Adrien - he came along at a point where I wanted to smarten up and formulate a more grown up style."
Lamb describes the fashion choices of fellow TV presenter Russell Brand as "not quite him".
"Style is all about working to yourself and maybe if I was a rock n' roller with long hair I'd be wearing tight skinny jeans too but I'm just not that person.I can appreaciate what he does though," Lamb said.
Who does heconsider a stylishly dressed man?"Mark Ronson will be when he starts dressing in A. Sauvage," he told us.
