SEBASTIAN MANES has been promoted to the newly-created role of Selfridges' buying and merchandising director.Having previously been responsible for womenswear, childrenswear and accessories buying, he will now also oversee menswear, home and leisure - categories formerly run by Selfridges veteran David Walker-Smith, who left the business in December 2012.
Manes started his career at the store in 2003 as senior accessories buyer and helped to launch Selfridges' popular Shoe Galleries.He will continue to report to company managing director Anne Pitcher.
Yesterday, Selfridges announced plans to launch the world's first drive-through shopping service - a facility that will allow customers to buy online, before collecting their purchases at the store without having to step out of their car.
