...2004, Gwyneth Paltrow hit the headlines after being photographed at a film premiere with a series of large brown blotches across her back.As the media's flashbulbs captured the rare imperfections, rumours abounded as to the source of the unusual marks, causing Paltrow's management team to step forward swiftly to confirm that there was no cause for alarm - the marks were caused by a process called cupping, during which a vacuum is created inside a cup by inserting a flame, removing it and quickly placing the cup on the body before the vacuum is lost."It's a common procedure for her," her representative said.
